Prepare To Sell Your Home, Make A Great First Impression

How To Properly Prepare To Sell Your Home

You only get one change to make a GREAT first impression. When you put your house on the market, it is a new entry to the existing real estate listings, so now is the time to shine above all the rest. Buyers look online to decide which houses they want to see, if it does not look good in pictures, buyer’s won’t come.

If your house is presented to the market properly, in the first few weeks on the market, a house should result in a lot of prospective buyers coming through the door. Which in effect should result in a great offer and a short amount of time on the market. There are a few key points to making a great first impression. The one we know best, that mom always says is “to make a good first impression, is important to look your best.” Same holds true when selling your house.

Of all the things you can do to make your house look great, what ones pay off? Well you can look toward the internet to provide all kinds of great to crazy ideas of what you need to do to prepare to sell your home. But I think there is one sure fire way to get the right list of “things to do to prepare your home for sale”.

When you hire Geva Sells to sell your home, a consultation with one of the best stagers in town (in my opinion) is part of my marketing package. How do I know that home staging is important? Again, not to beat a dead horse here, but buyers FIRST decide what houses they want to see based on the photos online. If they don’t like what they see, they don’t come. Unless of course it is the best deal ever. So you have a choice of two positions to take, a well staged home that will get the most value out of a house as possible, or selling at rock bottom pricing. I know which one I would want to be.

A home is one of the largest investments you will ever make, so why would you leave so many things to chance when selling it? You wouldn’t go on an interview in shorts and a Bruce Springsteen t-shirt would you? Put your best foot forward also applies to selling a home.

Before and After

So it is one thing for me to to recommend people to work on your house, but it is another thing to say that I recommend them AND have used them for lots of work in my own home. There were things about my home that just didn’t feel like OUR HOME to us, so we wanted to personalize it and give it my own sense of style. I reach out to the people that I use in my business to do home staging AND home renovation. The stager that I use at Geva Sells is also an interior designer, who walked us through a very methodical process to tailor our home to our personal style. Check out these before and after pictures.

The stager/interior designer that I use is easy to work with, professional and full of great ideas. The company that I use to do home renovation work gave me a estimate, schedule and timeline and kept to it. While I increased the scope of the work during the home renovation (ummm of course I did, isn’t that what all clients do), they were able to respond to my requests and provide an updated estimate and timeline, again sticking to it.

If you are interested in selling your home and want to see what it would take to prepare to sell your home, call me today. I will provide a team of professionals that will take all the guess work out of what needs to be done.
